Yasiel Puig Admires Single, Gets Benched
It was a majestic single, to be fair, arcing high into the Southern California night. It flew a solid 373 or so feet to the 375-foot mark of right-center, and if Puig could have been forgiven for thinking it might’ve been gone, his manager firmly made the point that he should have left the batter’s box just in case.

Dave Roberts spoke to Puig and took him out of the game for his lackadaisical lollygagging in L.A.’s 8-2 laugher over the Reds, telling the media afterward that “we talk about playing the game the right way.”
Puig concurred:
“It was a bad decision on my part,” Puig said through a translator. “It was a good decision on the manager’s part. It shows not only myself, but the rest of my teammates, that you have to run out every single ball.”
Added Puig, “I wanted to keep playing. But his decision was the correct one, because I wasn’t giving 100 percent.”
We cool? We cool.
