WTA Clarifies Rules, Clears The Way For Serena Williams's Catsuit And Leggings Of All Kinds

But whatever he’s looking to do to eliminate his catsuit nemesis, he’ll have less ground to stand on.
Yesterday, the Women’s Tennis Association announced several rule changes for 2019. Most notably, the tour expanded the scope of the “special ranking” policy that helps players return to the tour after injury and motherhood. Amid those updates, there’s this clarification: “Leggings and mid-thigh-length compression shorts may be worn with or without a skirt, shorts, or dress.” (Women have worn leggings on tour for a while now, typically without incident.)
Giudicelli is still welcome to shield his virgin eyes, though. “It will no longer be accepted. One must respect the game and the place,” he said in August, referring to a simple black compression suit with a single horizontal red stripe. When even Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (or at least his Twitter handlers) speaks out in defense of women’s wardrobe choices, and you’re still standing your ground, you’ve got some internal work to do.
