Mandatory Credit: James Carey Lauder-Imagn Images The Minnesota Wild signed goalie Jesper Wallstedt to a two-year, $4.4-million contract extension Monday, three days before the team begins its 2024-25 season at home against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Wallstedt, 21, will finish out his entry-level contract this season before the extension starts with the 2025-26 season.
He made his NHL debut for the Wild last season and had an .897 save percentage and 3.01 goals-against average in three games, all on the road, while going 2-1-0.
Wallstedt became the youngest goalie in Wild history when he made his debut in a Jan. 10 loss to the Dallas Stars and recorded his first win and shutout in a 4-0 defeat of the Chicago Blackhawks on April 7.
A native of Sweden, Wallstedt was Minnesota's first-round pick (20th overall) in the 2021 NHL Draft.
