Washington Logo Digitally Removed In New Ad
This ad, part of the "Change the Mascot" campaign and funded by the National Congress of American Indians and the Oneida Nation, is really subtle—you don't notice until well into it that the logo is missing players' helmets and from the end zone.
And that's exactly the point! Not one fan would give up on this team if it changed its name, nor would the fan experience change in the least. (Fans are giving up on the team because of the owner, and the fan experience is terrible because of him, but that's an entirely separate issue.)
A campaign spokesperson tells D.C. Sports Bog that they didn't seek permission to use the NFL footage, so expect this spot to be taken down any minute now.
