Warren Sapp Got Bitten By A Shark, But He's Okay
Photo credit: Mike Ehrmann/ [object Object] A good way to spend a summer afternoon is to go lobster fishing. A bad way to spend a summer afternoon is to get bit by a shark. The ocean is a mysterious place, full of mystery, joy, and hungry beasts. Warren Sapp experienced it all this afternoon.
Sapp got bit by a shark while lobstering off the Florida Keys, but according to the captain of the charter he was on, Sapp’s okay. Apparently, Sapp and the shark both went for a lobster, and Sapp won:
[Captain Jack] Carlson said by phone he was fishing on Florida Bay on Wednesday, about seven miles out from Marathon in 9 feet of water. Sapp was reached for a lobster that a shark — one witness thought it was a small nurse shark, perhaps four feet long — also wanted.
Here’s the chunk of Sapp that the shark got (the photo is a bit graphic). Carlson said that he may need stitches, but getting bitten did not stop Sapp finishing the trip:
“We bandaged it up, put some gauze on there, some black electrical tape and hit a couple more spots, then headed in,” Carlson said.
It wasn’t all bad for Sapp. Look at these dang lobsters.
