Virginia Tech AD Says Hokies Received Wake Forest Game Plan Before Football Game
Yet another college program team has been forced to admit that it was involved in the Wakeyleaks scandal, which consisted of former Wake Forest radio announcer Tommy Elrod sharing game prep material with the Demon Deacons’ opponents for at least two years. According to Virginia Tech athletics director Whit Babcock, the Hokies got insider information before their 2014 game against Wake Forest.
Here is Babcock’s statement:
Babcock’s statement followed a report from in which a source claimed that a former Hokies assistant coach received information about potential Wake Forest trick plays before the game.
As you probably recall, the 2014 clash between Virginia Tech and Wake Forest was one of the worst games in college football history. That game ended in a 6-3 Wake Forest overtime victory after both teams failed to score a single point in regulation. Whatever info the Hokies got before that game, it sure doesn’t seem to have helped much.
