Ty Lawson Will Enter Alcohol Treatment Program
Denver Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson, who was arrested Tuesday for suspicion of driving under the influence in Los Angeles, will enter a 30-day residential treatment program Saturday for his alcohol issues, his lawyers said Friday.
Lawson was also arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence in Denver in January. During a pretrial hearing Friday, a Denver judge ruled Lawson won’t face the DUI charges in California and Colorado until he completes his 30-day program. Lawson will undergo his treatment at Cliffside Malibu, a celebrity rehab spot offering “luxury” alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs. Lawson was ordered not to drink after his January arrest, and he’ll now have to use a blood-alcohol monitoring device after he leaves rehab.
Hopefully Lawson can take care of his issues. He’s certainly an extremely fun player to watch when he’s fully engaged. Lawson’s arrest came at an interesting point in his basketball career, as he’s been the subject of trade rumors for months, although now his (this will be gross) trade value is kind of up in the air. Apparently some teams—such as the Lakers—are still interested in acquiring him.
