Two Maryland Football Players Charged With Firing BB Guns At Students
Photo credit: Chris Knight/ [object Object] Last week, a handful of University of Maryland students complained to campus police that they’d been hit by BB gun pellets on campus. One student was riding his bike when he got sniped, a couple were tagged while walking near Maryland’s football stadium, and another student got hit while walking between buildings. The “shootings” happened on November 6, per UM police. The alleged perpetrators are Maryland football players Lorenzo Harrison and DJ Turner.
The pair of freshmen were suspended before last weekend’s game against Ohio State, and have now been suspended indefinitely after campus police announced the charges this afternoon. UMPD announced that Harrison and Turner would each be charged with three counts of second-degree assault and three counts of reckless endangerment.
The University released the following statement on the charges:
We are aware of the situation and take these matters very seriously. The two student-athletes involved have been suspended indefinitely for violating the student-athlete code of conduct. This matter has also been referred to the Office of Student Conduct for further review.
