Miranda missed the past nine games for the Twins with a low back strain. In two rehab games at Triple-A St. Paul, he went 3-for-6 with a double and two walks.
Miranda, 26, is in his third season with the Twins. He is batting .325 with 21 doubles, nine home runs, 43 RBIs and 35 runs in 76 games.
On July 6, he tied a major league record with 12 consecutive hits before making an out with his single against the Houston Astros. That hadn't been done since Walt Dropo of the Detroit Tigers did so in 1952.
Miranda is a career .276 hitter with 27 home runs, 122 RBIs and 92 runs in 241 games.
In a corresponding move, the Twins optioned infielder Edouard Julien to Triple-A St. Paul.
Julien, 25, hit .204 with seven home runs and 17 RBIs in 63 games this season, his second in the league. Last season, he batted .263 with 16 homers and 37 RBIs in 109 games for the Twins.
