Toilet Warrior Lance Berkman Will Speak At Cardinals' Christian Day
Lance Berkman, the former baseball player and man who was previously terrified of “troubled men” sneaking into women’s bathrooms, will be the St. Louis Cardinals’ guest for the team’s Christian Day on July 30.
In 2015, Berkman had appeared in an ad opposing Houston’s Proposition 1, an ordinance that would have protected residents from discrimination at work, among other places. The message conveyed by the spot was that the only thing stopping men from harming women in women’s bathrooms was the fact that Prop 1 hadn’t passed yet. It featured scary black-and-white footage of two people walking into a bathroom:
Prop 1 was shot down, and a couple of months later, Berkman spoke on tolerance with the Houston Chronicle. Specifically, he thought there was too much of it:
To me tolerance is the virtue that’s killing this country. We’re tolerant of everything. You know, everything is okay, and as long as you want to do it and as long as it feels good to you then it’s perfectly acceptable do it. Those are the kinds of things that lead you down a slippery slope, and you’ll get in trouble in a hurry.
Hopefully Berkman can elaborate on what Christianity and tolerance mean to him at the Cardinals game.
