This Save Is Bonkers
It doesn’t take much imagination—“if he’d been just a centimeter out of position there” or “if that had been just half an inch to the right”—to imagine most blocked shots as goals. But, goddamn, this one below is almost easier to imagine as the hypothetical goal that it wasn’t than the actual save that it was. Seriously, how did Frederik Andersen do this????
In the closing minutes of tonight’s Game 3 between the Bruins and Maple Leafs, he somehow managed to pull off the precision required to make this save and preserve Toronto’s 4-2 lead:
The Maple Leafs went on to win their first game of the series, and Andersen presumably went on to take some spectacularly situated photographs of people jumping or to find juuuust the right moment to break up with someone, or whatever else it is that people do if they have absolutely perfect timing.
