The Wizards Are Winning And Making John Wall Mad
Photo credit: Sue Ogrocki/ [object Object] Before dropping a game to the 76ers last night, the Washington Wizards were on a 5-0 run without star point guard John Wall in the lineup. Now let’s watch as the Wizards manage to turn winning a bunch of games in a row into a bad thing.
Things started to go wrong last Thursday, when Wizards center Marcin Gortat sent this tweet after a win against Toronto:
There are all sorts of ways to read into Gortat’s decision to put “team” in quotes there—maybe it was a dig at Wall, maybe it was some weird inside joke—but the wisest thing to do, particularly if you are John Wall, is to just ignore it and move on. So of course Wall, during an interview on ESPN yesterday, decided to register his contempt with Gortat’s tweet:
Wall also had thoughts to share about Bradley Beal telling reporters after that same win over the Raptors that “everybody eats” without Wall in the lineup:
Now let’s see what Gortat had to say about this after last night’s loss to the Sixers (via the Washington Post):
“We talk about team win with 30 assists a game, everybody played for each other. We enjoyed the game,” Gortat continued. “And basically I see that, you know, he felt different way. He felt it was a different way and he came back with that kind of a comment. So, now we got to ask each other questions, who’s attacking who?”
This seems like a team destined for postseason success.
