The Sixers Will Investigate Bryan Colangelo's Twitter Use
credits: Matt Rourke | source: AP Way more interesting than the finals is the Ringer story reporting that Bryan Colangelo, the Philadelphia 76ers’ president of basketball ops, may have been behind up to five anonymous Twitter accounts airing the team’s dirty laundry and defending Colangelo and his shirt collars.
It’s a particularly great story, and with legs, because there are so many mysteries left. Colangelo admitted to running one of the accounts, but were the others his too? If not his, than whose? Who was the tipster who first brought this into the light? What does this mean for potential free agency targets like LeBron? Is Bryan Colangelo somehow even more Online than Joel Embiid? Is Jerry Colangelo @dril? Is that really just a normal collar?
Colangelo has reportedly denied that he was behind the other four accounts, and according to Woj, NBA folks believe him because it would be just too bizarre. But he’s already copped to the one, and that seems bizarre enough already that I’d believe anything at this point.
The Sixers say they’re going to get to the bottom of this, announcing this morning that they have begun an “independent” investigation.
Now if only someone will get to the bottom of why the NBA’s scandals are so much more enjoyable than any other sport’s.
