The NFL Will Not Try To Keep Tom Brady Off The Field For Week 1
Next Thursday, Tom Brady will be under center for the Patriots’ opener against the Steelers. (And Roger Goodell will not be in attendance.) Though the NFL has filed an appeal of today’s ruling that overturned Brady’s four-game suspension, it will take its time.
The NFL has declined to seek a stay of Judge Berman’s ruling, according to NFL.com. Though the possibility of the losing side pursuing an immediate injunction been mooted, it was always assumed that Brady would have been more likely to do it, had he lost, to stay on the field until his appeal was heard and ruled upon. The NFL has less to lose from waiting: if it wins this appeal, Brady will just serve his suspension then.
But when might that be? Apparently, not for a long while.
Who’s ready to do this Ballghazi stuff all over again next offseason?!
