The Jaguars' Shitty QB Situation Has Come To This
Photo: Sam Greenwood/ [object Object] Now that there’s a quarterback battle a brewin’ down in Jacksonville, what did we learn from last night’s preseason loss to the Panthers? From the Jags’ official team website (emphasis mine):
[Head coach Doug] Marrone said he hadn’t yet made a decision on starting quarterback between Chad Henne and Blake Bortles, and he offered no timeline on when a decision could be made. He also said he hadn’t ruled out either or both playing in the preseason finale at Atlanta Thursday.
Christ, that’s bleak.
For every NFL team, the last preseason game functions as a final dress rehearsal for players clinging to make the team. Starters and even many roster locks rarely play because there’s no point. Also, the league changed its rules this year to make it so there’s only one cut-down deadline, which means all 32 teams will be trimming their rosters from 90 to 53 between next Thursday and Sunday Saturday. That’s largely the group that will take the field for Week 4 of the preseason. It’s also now the group against which the Jags might determine who gets to man their most important position for the start of the season.
Get fired up, Jags fans. Henne?
Or Bortles?
If only another option were available.
