The Greek Freak Goes Hunting For Blocks
Giannis Antetokounmpo only got credit for one block on this play, but a hometown scorer would have probably given him two. He barely got a finger on the first ball, but it's safe to assume that the Greek Freak's footsteps and flying limbs had something to do with Tony Wroten biffing it.
Whether two blocks or one, this play is incredible. Antetokounmpo needs only nine steps to get from his own foul line to the center of the paint on the other end, and he manages to catch Wroten despite having stop on a dime and completely reverse his momentum after getting his pocket picked cleanly. And then he's somehow able to spring up from the floor and jackrabbit into the air in time to erase what should have been an easy layup for Michael Carter-Williams.
Antetokounmpo finished the game with 13 points, six rebounds, four assists, and four blocks in 29 minutes. That's a decent stat line, but not as indicative of the kind of player he is as the play above. As we've said before, the kid has instincts.
