The Diamondbacks Hung 10 In One Inning Against The Rockies
Duane Burleson/ [object Object] The Colorado Rockies are enjoying a strong start to the season, but things hit a bit of a snag in the fourth inning of Wednesday night’s game against Arizona. The team surrendered 10 runs to the D-Backs’ sluggers before managing to record three outs.
Starter Jeff Hoffman, taking the mound in Denver undefeated with a 2.25 ERA heading into tonight, somehow lost all ability to pitch as Arizona teed off hit after hit, nine total for the frame with a couple of walks and an error mixed in. Hoffman was taken out with the score at 7-1 and got tagged with nine earned runs total. In 32 prior innings, he had only been charged with eight.
Jordan Lyles gave up a few more hits before Daniel Descalso made the second of his two outs in the inning. Nobody actually homered in the frame, but Brandon Drury looked the best with a double, a single and three RBI.
The NL West is, indeed, fun as hell.
