Against a Boston squad missing Jaylen Brown, who was sidelined with a hamstring injury, they couldn’t hang—getting beat down by a final score of 117-101 in tonight’s Game 1.
Philadelphia seemed to have collectively lost the ability to make a three-pointer, shooting a miserable 19.2 percent from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, Boston got strong performances there from just about everyone, shooting 47.2 percent from three. Robert Covington was a lackluster shadow of himself, scoring just three, and even a 31-point effort from Joel Embiid wasn’t enough to make this close.
Al Horford kept his strong performance from the first round going, with 26 points for Boston, but the biggest contributions came in the form of standout nights for some younger players—Terry Rozier and Jayson Tatum, who scored 29 and 28, respectively.
