The Cardinals Lost Their 57th Game
Photo: Laurence Kesterson/ [object Object] Phillies starting pitcher Jeremy Hellickson turned in an respectable seven innings Saturday night as Philadelphia beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 4-2.
Hellickson had two earned runs, seven hits, and eight strikeouts as he received his 10th win of the season. The pitcher’s biggest mistake was when he allowed a two-run shot from Jeremy Hazelbaker in the third inning which tied the game at two. He gave up just one hit and one walk in his last three innings.
Cardinals rookie pitcher Luke Weaver lost his second career start with a five-inning performance in which he allowed three earned runs on nine hits. The Phillies grabbed a 3-2 lead in the fifth inning with Maikel Franco’s RBI single, and added an insurance run with Aaron Altherr’s solo homer.
The Cardinals are 65-57. There’s always the next game!
