Texas Tech And TCU Combine For 37 Points After The End Of The Fourth Quarter, But Texas Tech Comes Out Ahead
Texas Tech and TCU combined to score 109 points in an incredible game that took a solid four hours and saw a hundred or so lead changes. After excellent individual performances from Texas Tech QB Seth Doege, TCU WR Skye Dawson, TCU Kicker Jaden Oberkrom (who went an icy 11/11 on field goals and extra points to account for 23 of TCU's 53 total), and a reviewed coin toss to start the first OT, Texas Tech had the last word. The Red Raiders moved up to 3-1 in the Big 12, and TCU fell to 2-2.
The highlight of the overtime periods, as seen above: Texas Tech took the field in the wildcat in the second OT and used some trickery to come away with a much-needed score. Seth Doege was lined up as a wide receiver on weak side, but, after a couple reverse handoffs, ended up with the ball and, 25 yards away, Jakeem Grant in the end zone. It wasn't the play that won it—there were still 13 more points to be scored between the two teams—but it more than represented the margin.
