Stray Firework Shoots Into Titans' Stadium, Explodes Some Seats
Photo: Weston Kenney/ [object Object] Tennessee-based company Pyro Shows put on Nashville’s Independence Day fireworks show last night, drawing an estimated crowd of 240,000 and, unfortunately, damaging the upper deck of the Titans’ stadium with an errant shell.
As TitansInsider reports, nobody got hurt, although a bit of concrete and some seats were “blown out.” Local tourism officials said that the damage was still being assessed, and that they don’t expect any stadium events to be disrupted. Pyro Shows is on the hook for the damage from the malfunction:
“It took place toward the end of the show,” said Lansden Hill, owner of Pyro Shows, which has been doing the fireworks show in Nashville for three decades. “The shells are supposed to go off in the air, but this one came back down and didn’t go off until it landed in the upper deck. It was just one of those things that will occasionally happen.”
The USMNT host Panama in a Gold Cup match this weekend at the stadium, although the upper deck section that took fire will not be open for the game anyway.
