Mandatory Credit: D. Ross Cameron-Imagn Images Dennis Schroder had his most productive game with his new team, scoring 23 points while filling in for Stephen Curry, and the Golden State Warriors held on for a 114-103 victory over the Utah Jazz on Tuesday in San Francisco.
In a game in which both teams were missing three key players, Golden State won for just the second time in five contests, while Utah dropped its seventh straight.
With Curry resting on the front end of a back-to-back set and Draymond Green and Jonathan Kuminga out due to injuries, the Warriors led by as many as 15 points and were still up 97-86 early in the fourth quarter before a Utah rally.
Finding energy on the second night of its own back-to-back and without the injured trio of Lauri Markkanen, Walker Kessler and Jordan Clarkson, Utah ran off 13 of the game's next 16 points to get within 100-99 on a Brice Sensabaugh interior hoop with 6:14 to go.
However, Moses Moody countered with a 3-pointer and the Warriors eased away from there, beating Utah for the second time in two meetings this season and the ninth time in a row at home dating back to March 2021.
Schroder, who had been relegated to the bench in recent games, hit eight of his 20 shots and five of his 13 3-point attempts in surpassing his previous high as a Warrior, a 20-point outing against the Washington Wizards earlier this month.
The ex-Brooklyn Net also found time for five rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Brandin Podziemski backed him with 20 points, Andrew Wiggins added 19 points and Moody had 15.
Quinten Post added 10 points for the Warriors, while Podziemski complemented his scoring with seven rebounds and a team-high six assists. Kevon Looney was the game's top rebounder with 11 to go with six points. Golden State sank 17 3-pointers to Utah's eight.
Collin Sexton bombed in a game-high 30 points for the Jazz, who lost their second in two nights after a 125-110 home defeat to the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday.
Isaiah Collier amassed 12 points, six rebounds and a game-high eight assists for Utah, while Micah Potter collected a team-high seven rebounds along with 13 points.
Drew Eubanks contributed 13 points, Keyonte George 12 and Kyle Filipowski 10 for Utah, which lost despite outshooting Golden State 51.3 percent to 39.1 percent from the floor.
