Steph Curry Calls Out Dewayne Dedmon For "Dirty Play"
Photo: Ezra Shaw/ [object Object] The Golden State Warriors won Game 3 this weekend to set up a potential sweep against the San Antonio Spurs. The outcome of this series hasn’t been in doubt since Kawhi Leonard limped out of Game 1 with an ankle injury, but it’s seen more controversy than most uneven playoff matchups.
Leonard went down during Game 1 after Warriors center Zaza Pachulia got in his airspace and stuck his foot into Leonard’s landing zone. Gregg Popovich went in on Pachulia and the now-injured center said that he blamed Popovich for Spurs fans threatening his children. LaMarcus Aldridge appeared to get too close to Kevin Durant on the perimeter in Game 2, but Durant quickly denied that it was any sort of retaliatory move.
Before Game 4 tonight, Steph Curry spoke to ESPN’s Chris Haynes and pointed out an illegal screen that Dewayne Dedmon hit him with in the fourth quarter of Game 3. As you can see, Dedmon seems bend his left knee and smash into Curry’s left knee.
Mike Brown said it was an illegal screen and Curry called the play “dirty.”
“I know he’s not a dirty player. I’m not going to try to mess up his reputation, but I feel like that was a dirty play,” Curry responded to ESPN. “Luckily no one was hurt.”
He said he didn’t realize how egregious the screen was until he saw a replay the next morning.
Curry was not listed on the Warriors’ injury report and he will play tonight, although CSN Bay Area noted that Curry appeared to be limping and needed ice on his knee. The good news is Curry seems to have escaped serious injury and his team will have a decent layoff before the Finals start.
