Spain And Chile Decided To End FIFA's Fair-Play Day With A Scuffle
When Spain and Chile faced off yesterday in an international friendly, the Chileans found it unfair that an apparent dive led to the game-winning goal. As such, injury time involved some pushing and shoving and whatnot.
This is noteworthy, if only because Friday was one of FIFA's "Fair Play Days," which is all about responsibility and respect.
"I appeal to all players, officials and fans to set a good example of fair play, whether it be at grassroots level, or at the pinnacle of international football," said FIFA President Sepp Blatter. "Together we have to take responsibility and play our part in showing fairness, impartiality and solidarity."
If the scuffle ran counter to that mission, perhaps some other sides will make up for it on Fair Play Tuesday this week.
