Somehow, Freddie Freeman Didn't Break His Back Trying To Catch This Foul Ball
The Braves are 34 games under .500. Pretty much their only good player is Freddie Freeman. This is more or less by design—Atlanta dumped a bunch of talent so they would be at their worst right before moving into their boondoggle of a new suburban stadium, but they kept Freeman around as a lifeline to their remaining fans.
Freeman has responded by playing in all but two games and setting a career high in home runs, all of which is to say that it’s a good thing he didn’t shatter his back into 82 pieces and completely sever his spine attempting to catch this foul ball in Arizona last night.

In fact, Freeman hit an RBI single an inning later. The Braves probably don’t deserve him.
