Soccer Trophies Go Unclaimed After Tournament Ends In Shootout With Actual Guns
A Delaware soccer tournament came to a violent end Sunday after a shootout left one person dead and four others injured. Wilmington police claim shots fired between "multiple parties" led to havoc in the streets, with two of the alleged shooters in custody after wrecking their getaway car; both of the apprehended suspects were themselves injured, one by gunshot and the other by police dog. A third suspect died of gunshot wounds.
The Marcus Garvey Soccer Tournament is an annual Wilmington event named after the Jamaican-born black nationalism leader. Police are still looking for shooting suspects, and have yet to identify exactly how many shooters they believe were involved in the incident.
