Sixers-Kings Game Cancelled After Philadelphia Stadium Sweats All Over Everything
Screencap via CSN The Sixers were supposed to tip off against the Kings at 7:07 tonight, but instead of some incompetent basketball, fans in Philly were treated to a bunch of dudes mopping a floor for 20 minutes. Officials decided to postpone the game shortly after, but didn’t make an announcement for an hour. The mopping was as interesting as Sixers games usually are, but Joel Embiid was slated to get his minutes cap raised to 28. Instead of seeing DeMarcus Cousins rumble with Embiid, fans were treated to watching Boogie grab a mop and get to work.
The Sixers play in the same arena as the Flyers, and the hardwood is on top of the ice. It’s been unseasonably hot in Philly lately, according to the Sixers broadcast, which may have been a factor in the floor sweating and covering the court in a thin film of water. Sixers reporter Keith Pompey showed exactly how wet it was.
Reports that the game had been called started coming out about 15 minutes after the scheduled tip off. It was officially cancelled an hour later.
Apparently, stadium personnel forgot to turn the air conditioning on as they usually do. Kings analyst Kayte Christensen reports that the game may be made up in January.
We leave you with the best highlight from the game.
