Simone Biles And Aly Raisman Dominated One Last Olympic Event
[object Object] American gymnasts Simone Biles and Aly Raisman competed for individual medals in the women’s floor exercise today, and as has been the case in most of the women’s gymnastics competitions in Rio, the two Americans smoked the rest of the field.
Biles came into the event as the heavy favorite, by virtue of her being able to do things during her floor routine that other gymnasts can only dream of pulling off. She killed it, scoring a 15.966 on her routine while finishing nearly half a point clear of Raisman and more than a full point ahead of bronze medalist Amy Tinkler. Raisman’s 15.5 is nothing to scoff at, either, and was just shy of the 15.6 mark that earned her a gold in the same event at the London Olympics.
Biles finishes her historically dominant Olympic run with four gold medals and one bronze. She is the fourth American to ever finish the games with five medals, and just the fourth gymnast in history to win four gold medals at one Olympics. Raisman finishes with a gold for her participation in the team all-around competition, and silvers in the individual all-around and floor exercise.
