Mandatory Credit: Kai Pfaffenbach-Reuters via Imagn Images FC Red Bull Salzburg and CF Pachuca's Group H match in Cincinnati, Ohio, was paused due to a severe weather delay in the 54th minute with Salzburg holding a 1-0 lead on Wednesday night.
Oscar Gloukh's 42nd-minute strike from beyond the penalty area put the Austrian side in front after their Mexican opponents had the brighter start in the FIFA Club World Cup match.
With four saves, Salzburg's Christian Zawieschitzky was the more active keeper in his senior club debut.
After receiving Valentin Sulzbacher's pass on the left side of the penalty area, Gloukh cut the ball across lunging defender Pedro Pedraza to his right foot, then drove his strike beyond Carlos Moreno's dive inside the far right post.
Before Gloukh's opener, Zawieschitzky denied Pachuca's Salomon Rondon twice and Elias Montiel to keep his side level.
Two minutes after the break, Zawieschitzky stood tall to thwart Alexéi Domínguez at his near post, then kept his composure to stop Rondon again after the veteran Venezuelan reached Kenedy's early cross.
