Rolando McClain Got Arrested Because He Shouted "Fuck The Police!"
We told you earlier about Ravens linebacker Rolando McClain's latest arrest in his hometown of Decatur, Ala., this time for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. We knew McClain had been in a park among a large group of people that refused to disperse, and that he had cursed at officers. But what exactly did he say? We wanted to know because he's Rolando McClain, and this is important.
Lt. John Crouch of the Decatur PD appeared on The Norris and Davis Show this morning on 105.7 The Fan in Baltimore to fill us in. Crouch said police had arrived at the park in response to a complaint about a fight. Pro Football Talk did us the favor of transcribing part of the interview:
When police arrived, they heard someone in the crowd yelling “f— the police” as they tried to get the scene under control.
“It appeared that whoever it was was trying to get the crowd stirred up,” Crouch said. “They eventually identified the person in the crowd, moved in and told him he was under arrest for disorderly conduct. At which point, he tried to jerk away. The officers grabbed his arms, he continued to struggle, trying to pull the officers further into the crowd. They did eventually get handcuffs on him. At that point, they recognized him as Rolando McClain.”
I know McClain has a history with directing this sort of language at police, but are the cops in Decatur really sure he wasn't just singing a favorite song?
