Rick Carlisle Gets The Business From Rajon Rondo, Reporter
Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle did not have the best day at the office yesterday. His team came away with a 99-92 victory over the Toronto Raptors, which was good, but he also got into a shouting match with starting point guard Rajon Rondo in the middle of the game, which was very bad. Then, he just about had an aneurysm when a reporter grilled him about the incident after the game.
It's not totally clear why Carlisle was so mad at Rondo, but in the video above it sure looks like Rondo makes a point of bringing up the ball on the opposite side of the floor and ignoring Carlisle's play call. After calling a timeout, Carlisle angrily sends Rondo straight to the bench, at which point it sure looks like Rondo tells his coach to fuck off.
Afterwards, ESPN's Tim MacMahon pressed Carlisle with multiple questions about the incident, and when an evasive Carlisle snapped, "How many other ways you want me to answer the same question?" McMahon hit him with, "One. You haven't answered it yet." Please look at the face Carlisle made right after McMahon said that:
That's the face of a man who has suddenly found himself thinking, "You know, I could just burn this whole fucking place to the ground. I really could. Then we'll see if those front-office clowns still think it was a good idea to trade for a surly point guard who can't shoot and ignores my play calls. THEN WE'LL SEE."
