Retiring High-School Coach Hits Three At The Buzzer (Video)

Maysville, Ky. high-school basketball radio guy Jonathan Fraysure sent word of a quirky ending to a game and coaching career Friday night. Augusta High was trailing Scott High from Covington 99-69 in the waning seconds. Augusta Coach Robin Kelsch announced he's moving on up to the principal's office of George Clooney's tiny alma mater. His "number" has already been retired, all that good stuff.

Fraysure, who called the game, takes it from here.

I could tell that Scott's coach, named Brad Carr, was cooking something up for the last couple of game-minutes. After some talking back and forth, Coach Kelsch agreed, and apparently the officials did as well.

Augusta gets the rebound of the missed free throw, and a couple of passes later, Coach Kelsch steps onto the court and nails a three-pointer before the buzzer to end the game (and his career). Of course it didn't count, but you'll notice that the official in the top-hand corner of the video flashes the made "three" signal.

An awesome video, and a great testament for one of the most respected coaches in local high school sports in our area.

Now, if only he could've done something about Scott's 25-0 first-quarter run.
