Reports: Texans CB Ronald Darby set to retire

Mandatory Credit: Troy Taormina-Imagn Images Houston Texans cornerback Ronald Darby informed the team he plans to retire, according to multiple reports Monday.
Darby, 31, signed a one-year, $2.5 million contract in March to join his fifth team in the past six seasons. Houston has the luxury of talent and depth at the position, drafting Southern California defensive back Jaylin Smith in the third round in April to play behind starters Derek Stingley Jr. and Kamari Lassiter along with nickel Jalen Pitre.
Darby was a Bills' second-round pick in 2015 out of Florida State and played 10 NFL seasons with Buffalo, the Philadelphia Eagles, Washington, Denver Broncos, Baltimore Ravens and spent last season with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
He was Defensive Rookie of the Year runner-up to Marcus Peters (Chiefs) and spent two seasons with the Bills before being acquired by the Eagles and winning a Super Bowl in his first season in Philadelphia.
In 118 career games, he had eight interceptions -- none since 2020 with Washington -- one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and 447 total tackles.
