Mandatory Credit: Matthew Hinton-Imagn Images The Pittsburgh Steelers are set to sign wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling, a former Green Bay teammate of quarterback Aaron Rodgers, ESPN and Fox Sports reported Monday.
Valdes-Scantling has played for three teams in the past two seasons and began 2025 with the San Francisco 49ers, who released him with an injury settlement after five games.
He worked out for Pittsburgh earlier Monday and is expected to begin on the practice squad, per the reports.
Valdes-Scantling played the first four years of his career with Rodgers and the Packers, catching 123 passes for 2,153 yards and 13 touchdowns there.
In 111 games (68 starts) for the Packers (2018-21), Kansas City Chiefs (2022-23), Buffalo Bills (2024), New Orleans Saints (2024) and Niners, Valdes-Scantling has amassed 209 receptions for 3,606 yards and 20 touchdowns.
The Steelers (4-3) have sought additional pass-catchers to supplement offseason acquisition DK Metcalf. Roman Wilson led the Steelers in Sunday's 35-25 loss to the Packers with 74 yards and a score on four catches.
