Mandatory Credit: John E. Sokolowski-Imagn Images Catcher Danny Jansen agreed to a one-year, $8.5 million contract with the Tampa Bay Rays, multiple media outlets reported on Friday.
ESPN reported the deal includes a mutual option for a second season.
Jansen will be playing for his third team in the American League East. He suited up for both the Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox last season.
In fact, Jansen made major league history as the first player to appear for both teams in the same game.
Jansen was facing an 0-1 count on June 26 when the game was suspended by rain with one out in the top of the second inning. He then was traded to the Red Sox on July 27 for three prospects.
On Aug. 26, Toronto's Daulton Varsho pinch-hit for Jansen in the at-bat of the suspended game, and Jansen was behind the plate for Boston.
Jansen, 29, batted .205 with nine homers and 24 RBIs in 92 games last season with the Blue Jays and Red Sox. He is a career .220 hitter with 74 homers and 220 RBIs in 501 games with Toronto and Boston.
