Reports: Bucs, Zyon McCollum agree to three-year extension
Aug 9, 2025; Tampa, Florida, USA; Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Zyon McCollum (27) warms up before a preseason game against the Tennessee Titans at Raymond James Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Nathan Ray Seebeck-Imagn Images Two days before the start of his fourth NFL season, cornerback Zyon McCollum reached terms on an extension with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Friday, according to multiple media reports.
The three-year, $48 million extension will reportedly pay the former fifth-round draft pick out of Sam Houston State a guaranteed $35.4 million. It's a proactive move for the Bucs, with McCollum not set to be a free agent until after the 2026 season.
McCollum broke through as a starter in 2024, starting all 18 games after starting a combined 12 games over his first two seasons in Tampa. His 82 tackles last season were second-most on the team, and he also recorded two interceptions, 17 pass deflections, a fumble recovery and a tackle for loss.
