Reports: Bruno Mars Invited To Perform At Super Bowl Halftime Show
Here are a pair of reports stating that the NFL has asked Bruno Mars to play a part in the Super Bowl 50 halftime show, just two years after his last appearance.
Entertainment Weekly says he’d be the “headliner,” which feels a little doubtful: he’s not a huge-huge name, and you’d expect the NFL to go all out for its 50th Super Bowl. Billboard says Mars has been asked to “curate” the show, which sounds more right. Bet on it being a big show, with a number of different performers (maybe including some other repeat guests), with Mars as the ringleader.
You could do a lot worse than Mars, who’s a natural showman—I actually really enjoyed his performance at Super Bowl XLVIII, where he easily upstaged the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Put him right up there with Katy Perry among the best halftime performers in recent memory, though no one touches Prince.
