Reporter Hit By Falling Railing On Opening Day At D.C.'s New MLS Stadium

Fans were treated to 32 minutes of Wayne Rooney, protests from disgruntled supporter groups, and a series of railings breaking and falling all over the place. D.C. United communications VP and sideline reporter Lindsay Simpson was apparently hit in the shoulder and head by a section of rail that snapped off before the game started. She was treated on site and was unable to work the game.
This was reportedly not the only rail that fell, and local soccer writer Pablo Maurer posted a photo of the duct tape job that stadium staff used to keep everything locked up.
A wonderful opening day for a building that only cost D.C. $183 million in public money!
