Report: With No White House Invite, Warriors Will Use D.C. Trip To Spend Day With Local Kids Instead
Photo Credit: Marcio Jose Sanchez/ [object Object] The Warriors won’t be spending any of their upcoming time in D.C. with President Donald Trump, so they’ll reportedly be spending some time on “a private tour of an undisclosed locale” with local children instead.
A new ESPN report from Chris Haynes and Ramona Shelburne says that the players have made a final decision on how to spend the free day on next week’s trip to Washington, where they’ll play the Wizards on February 28. It’s been five months since Trump withdrew the 2017 NBA champions’ invitation to the White House, blowing up over the fact that Stephen Curry said he wouldn’t be interested in attending.
Head coach Steve Kerr let the players decide what to do here, and the tour of the mystery location—which will only include players, coaches and local students, with no media present—was their choice. From what Kerr told ESPN:
“It’s their championship. They got disinvited to the White House, so it’s up to them what they wanted to do. So, they made their plans. I want the players to have a good day and to do something positive and to enjoy what they’re doing.”
