Report: Two U.S. swimmers test positive for COVID
David Johnston celebrates after competing in the 1500-meter freestyle final, Sunday, June 23, 2024, during the ninth day of the U.S. Olympic Team Swimming Trials at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Two members of the U.S. Olympic men's swimming team have tested positive for COVID-19 in Paris, according to multiple reports.
David Johnston and Luke Whitlock are in isolation at a hotel outside the Olympic Village, SwimSwam.com reported.
A USA Swimming spokesperson declined to confirm the positive tests, according to Yahoo Sports.
Johnston was scheduled to swim the 1,500-meter free style this weekend and the 10K swim next week in the River Seine. Whitlock already is finished after finishing 15th in preliminary heats for the 800-meter freestyle.
British swimmer Adam Peaty, who won silver in the 100-meter breaststroke, and Australian swimmer Lani Pallister have also tested positive this week, per reports.
