Report: Mark Sanchez Likely To Have Season-Ending Surgery
Well, that'll do Mark. That'll do. Mere days after SportsCenter put to rest what will undoubtedly be in the first line of his obituary, Mark Sanchez's season is done. According to Chris Mortensen, Dr. James Andrews has determined that Sanchez has a "labral tear in his right shoulder." Sanchez still has some time to decide between surgery and rehab, but a decision is expected shortly. A source close to Sanchez said it didn't really make sense for him to put off surgery in hopes of playing for the Jets this year given the team's commitment long-term to Geno Smith.
Sanchez's time in New York can only be described as head-scratching. It's kind of crazy to think that the same guy who took (managed) the Jets to two-straight AFC championship games was also the guy who buttfumbled and seemingly couldn't do one goddamned thing right in the past two years. New York traded up to get him in 2009 and four years later he's already played his last game in a Jets uniform.
Update: Mort has updates, for what they're worth.
