Report: Jahlil Okafor Headed To Brooklyn Nets
Elsa/ [object Object] ESPN’s Zach Lowe reports that the Sixers will send Jahlil Okafor, Nik Stauskas, and a second-round pick to the Nets in exchange for Trevor Booker.
Okafor’s run in Philly now comes to a merciful end. In October, the Sixers chose not to pick up the last year of Okafor’s contract. The third overall draft pick in 2015 appeared in only two games this season as the Sixers kept him in purgatory while seeking a suitable deal. It’s been a little fun and a lot sad to see the asking price go from “two first-round picks” to “one second-round pick” to “fine, fuck it, here’s a bunch of stuff.”
The question now is whether Okafor—now united with his draftmate D’Angelo Russell—can prove that he still has value in a league that has steadily drifted away from his low-post skillset. At the very least he will be physically closer to the movie theaters he loves.
