Two unrelated guinea pigs. Photo: [object Object] Police are investigating a boys high school lacrosse team in Michigan after players allegedly killed a guinea pig and smeared its blood on their faces before a game.
Grosse Ile police confirmed to MLive that they were investigating claims that “one or more members of the District’s lacrosse team engaged in cruelty to an animal,” and that the animal involved was a guinea pig.
Fox 2 spoke to anonymous sources who said the guinea pig was killed in a “team bonding” ritual before a game on May 4. Grosse Ile lost that game 13-6.
The Grosse Ile team has been suspended until further notice. At least 10 of the team’s 18 players are under investigation.
