Report: Bengals, Of All Fucking Teams, Concerned About Eric Reid's Kneeling
credits: Marcio Jose Sanchez | source: AP The Cincinnati Bengals, an NFL franchise which has employed some of the most violent players in the sport, reportedly met with free-agent safety Eric Reid, who previously protested police brutality and racial discrimination by kneeling during the national anthem. According to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, Reid’s kneeling was a red flag for Bengals owner Mike Brown.
From PFT:
Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Brown personally met with Reid when Reid visited the Bengals on Monday. Brown, according to the source, initiated discussion regarding the issue of kneeling during the anthem. The conversation almost exclusively centered on the topic, with Brown explaining that he intends to prohibit it — and with Brown at one point asking Reid for his response.
Reid, who is 26 and one of the best free-agent safeties available, has already said that he will not kneel during the upcoming season if he is signed. But I guess you can’t blame the Bengals, an historically successful franchise that clearly understands how to build and maintain a winning culture, for asking the question.
