Report: Auburn Receiver Duke Williams Went On A Punching Rampage
Auburn Tigers head coach Gus Malzahn announced yesterday that he had dismissed wide receiver D’haquille “Duke” Williams from the team. Malzahn didn’t get into the specifics of why Williams was dismissed, but it might have had something to do with an alleged rampage that Williams went on at a local bar.
AL.com spoke to an employee at Skybar, a local haunt that Williams and his teammates were allegedly partying at after the team’s victory over San Jose State. According to this witness, Williams punched four people, including two security guards and a bartender, after being kicked out of the bar. From AL.com:
According to the witness, the incident was sparked when a member of Williams’ party was kicked out of Skybar for wearing sunglasses inside, a violation of the bar’s dress code policy. Williams, who the witness said appeared intoxicated, attempted to get his friend back into the bar using his local celebrity status only to be denied.
Police were called according to the witness, but AL.com reports that local court records don’t show any charges filed against Williams.
