Mandatory Credit: Eric Canha-Imagn Images Boston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas left Friday night's game against the Minnesota Twins on a stretcher with an apparent serious leg injury.
Casas beat out a check-swing ground ball that Twins pitcher Joe Ryan misplayed in the bottom of the second inning. After stepping hard on top of the first base bag, he appeared to come down hard on his left knee and stayed down before being attended to by a trainer.
Romy Gonzalez replaced Casas following the injury, which the Red Sox have yet to formally diagnose.
Casas, 25, is batting .182 with three home runs and 11 RBIs in 29 games this season, his fourth in the major leagues.
