The team also announced that Julian de Guzman will replace Jochen Schneider as the club's head of sport for the 2026 season.
The moves came after the Red Bulls (12-15-7) saw their league-record 15-year playoff streak end with a 10th-place finish in the Eastern Conference.
"Over the past few years, I've poured my heart into this club, and I am immensely proud of what we've accomplished together," Schneider said in a release. "Mentoring Julian has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my time here, and I have no doubt that he is the perfect person to take the helm and lead the Red Bulls into their next chapter."
Schwarz, 47, was 31-29-21 across all competitions with the Red Bulls after being hired in December 2023 to replace Troy Lesesne. The Germany native led the club to the MLS Cup final last season, losing 2-1 to the LA Galaxy.
