Prodigiously Endowed Pirate Pitcher Jim Bibby Is Now Dead (Update)
From an emailer: "I was disappointed to find that you made no mention of the passing of Jim Bibby on today's page...
...and Bibby started games 4 and 7 have nothing at all to do with my disappointment. Bibby's real "significance" is immortalized in the pages of Jim Bouton's "Ball Four" where he was classified as having probably the largest "bat" in the major leagues. Guess you were asleep at the wheel on this one. God rest your soul Mr. Bibby. I'm sure his wife is resting a little easier too.
Prodigious endowments always make for good Internet.
And "prodigious endowments" makes a nice tag.
Update: Another reader adds a correction:
"Seasons In Hell" was actually the name of the book that mentioned Bibby.
