Mandatory Credit: James Carey Lauder-Imagn Images Corey Perry finished with a goal and an assist to help lead the Edmonton Oilers to a 4-1 road victory over the first-place Winnipeg Jets on Sunday.
Despite the loss, Winnipeg (55-22-4, 114 points) secured its first Presidents' Trophy in franchise history, as the Washington Capitals suffered a 4-1 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets earlier on Sunday.
Connor Brown, Adam Henrique and Viktor Arvidsson also scored for the injury-plagued Oilers (47-28-5, 99 points), while Stuart Skinner tallied 17 saves.
Connor McDavid brought his season-long point total up to 99 with a pair of assists.
Alex Iafallo scored the Jets' lone goal and Eric Comrie stopped 35 shots in a rare start.
McDavid found his chance at breaking the deadlock with just under four minutes left in the first, but sent his backhanded shot wide of the net.
McDavid then made his takeaway look easy, before feeding Brown, who made a quick move and backhanded the puck into the back of the net to give the Oilers the 1-0 advantage just under a minute into the second period.
The game's opening goal was Brown's fourth over his past three games.
Iafallo got the Jets on the board with a power-play marker with 6:16 gone in the middle frame.
After Skinner shut down Mark Scheifele's shot, Iafallo pounced on the rebound to knot the game up at 1-1.
Henrique had his opportunity to break the tie with eight minutes left in the second period with the Oilers on the man advantage, but his wrist shot hit the post.
Just moments after Edmonton's power play ended, Henrique got his revenge though as he batted a mid-air puck past Comrie to give the Oilers the 2-1 lead at 12:39 of the second period.
Jets defenseman Dylan Samberg was laying on the ice injured after blocking a shot just prior to the goal and didn't return.
Perry extended the Oilers' lead to 3-1 with 7:35 remaining in the game as he sent his slot shot up over the top of Comrie's glove.
Arvidsson put the game away with an empty-net goal with 1:20 left in the contest.
