Police Search Pond For Murder Weapon In Aaron Hernandez Case
Police divers searched a pond in Bristol, Conn., this afternoon, reportedly seeking the .45-caliber Glock handgun that prosecutors believe Aaron Hernandez used to kill Odin Lloyd.
Though authorities have recovered a number of weapons from Hernandez's possession, the .45-caliber gun has as of yet not been found—though surveillance camera images from the night of the murder show Hernandez holding a handgun that prosecutors believe is the murder weapon.
On the day after Lloyd's murder, police sources have said, Hernandez associates Ernest Wallace and Carlos Ortiz drove from Hernandez's home to a house owned by Hernandez's uncle, in a car rented by Hernandez. The pond searched today is less than a mile from a Bristol home owned by Aaron Hernandez's uncle.
It's not known if authorities are acting on any specific information, or just widening their search for the handgun. A pond near Hernandez's North Attleborough, Mass., home was searched on June 26, and nothing was found.
